The opening of the Aigantighe Art Gallery, 1956

The capital project to seismically strengthen and restore the Heritage House Gallery is estimated to cost $3,252,000. The Timaru District Council has confirmed its support for the project, with a 1/3 contribution towards the total cost of the project. The remaining funding required for the project will be sourced from a wide range of funders that include Central Government, Lottery Grants Board, public and private trusts, individual philanthropy and corporate sponsorship.

Once funding for the project has been secured, the physical works on the Heritage House Gallery will commence. This is expected to be in early 2022 and if everything goes to plan the Heritage House Gallery is expected to reopen in late 2022.
