ARTARAMA 2026
FAQ for Teachers, Home-school Parents, and Schools:
When is Artarama this year?
Artarama will run from 15th August - 13th September 2026.
How big can the artworks be?
We ask that the 2D artworks such as paintings, drawings, and prints, etc. are a maximum of A3 size. All 3D works must be a size which is suitable for display.
Are there any artwork requirements?
- Yes, we ask that you do not submit artworks that are glazed (framed) or hard canvas works. All 2D works will be hung with double-sided tape or blu-tack.
- 2D works no bigger than A3 size.
- All works must be labelled clearly with student's name, school, year group, and phone number if home schooled.
- Digital art (design and photography) is only available for senior students (Year 11-13).
When do we drop off artworks?
Please drop off artworks at Aigantighe Art Gallery (49 Wai-iti Road, Timaru) on Monday 3rd August between 8am - 5pm. If you are located outside of Timaru, feel free to courier entries ahead of time or if you wish to drop it off before 3rd August, please get in contact with us at the gallery to arrange a time (gallery@timdc.govt.nz).
How do we label our artworks?
All artworks should be labelled on the FRONT with student's name, year, and school. If the student is home schooled, please include a phone number.
Is there a prizegiving?
Yes! The prizegiving will take place on Sunday 6th September at 1pm!
What happens if a student has won?
We will contact schools/parents and notify them on winners prior to the prizegiving.
Can we book a visit to come as a class/school?
Yes absolutely! Please book in early by calling us on 03 688 4424 or email us gallery@timdc.govt.nz. We are open from Tuesday to Friday from 10am - 4pm and Saturday/Sunday from 12pm - 4pm (Closed Mondays). When visiting please remember to bring plenty of adult helpers!
When can we collect our artworks?
Artworks will need to be collected on Monday 14th September between 12 - 5pm. Uncollected works will be held for two weeks, then may be disposed of.
